The summer is just months away (YAY!) and if you’re anything like us; most of your weekends will be spent attending friends’ weddings or perhaps (eek!) preparing for your own! If you’re tying the knot – or have besties that are – these Brighton women are the ones you really need to know about…
Rosemary Jane Designs
The super-talented Rosemary Jane is a renowned costume maker (she’s crafted designs for films such as Cinderella and Snow White and the Huntsman!) turned wedding dress marvel. With family and friends asking her to customise their wedding dresses, Rosie decided to share her skills with other brides-to-be looking for a wedding dress that is just them. If you’re looking for a dress with a difference, she’s your go to gal.
Claire Montgomery of Cat-a-Cake Creations is a Brighton maker who specialises in quirky wedding and hen do jewellery. Fancy a laser cut statement necklace declaring you’re ‘Mrs so-and-so’? Or perhaps you want to strut down the aisle rocking a cute cate pendant (who wouldn’t?) or buy your friend a special personalised gift she’ll treasure forever! If you’re searching for all things wonderfully whimsical – you know exactly who to natter to.
Betti Confetti Photography
Not gonna lie, photographer Gemma had us with the name of her biz before we’d even seen her photos. Then we saw her natural and fun looking wedding snaps and knew she’d have to be on this list. She loves working with creative and quirky Brighton brides and grooms, capturing their unconventional ‘dos – from big festival style big days through to bijou weddings and elopements – and oh boy does it show!
Connie & Joan
Brighton designer Lizzie is a lady who knows how important those little details are – as a web designer for the Press Association, she even designed and maintained websites for the royal family! Pretty impressive, don’t you think? Utilising her illustration skills, Lizzie has gone on to create Connie & Joan; a company selling beautiful (and affordable!) wedding stationery templates that couples can print out and even customise to suit their big day.
A wedding cake is one of our favourite things about a wedding (so much so that when our co-ed Shelley tied the knot last year, she had an afternoon tea theme, simply to just be able to eat as much cake as possible!). We love these gorgeous designs by Ellie (aka Bunston Bakes) – a Hove-based cake creator extraordinaire, who learnt to bake with her grandma and now makes creative wedding cakes for couples in Brighton and beyond.
Want to meet all of these amazing women in the flesh and more? They’ll be at Sunday’s (12th March) Happily Ever After Wedding Fair at Brighton Racecourse between 10:30am – 4pm!
Entry is £2.50 per person and will see over 100 wedding exhibitors showing off their wares.
