Marvellous May: Things to Do in Brighton This Month

Posted on May 3 2017 - 7:55pm by Brighton Style

Hooray for May. The evenings are light, it’s the start of #peony season and there’s so many amazing events happening in Brighton. In fact, we’d go as far as saying that May could be our most favourite month! Here’s just a few must-see events that we’ll be going to this month. Diaries at the ready girls!

Brighton Festival

YAY it’s Brighton Festival time again! Whilst we’ve already waxed lyrical about the Festival and circled, highlighted and shared the three events we can’t wait to go to, we’ve found even more we need to book tickets for – including Deborah Frances-White’s The Guilty Feminist on Sunday 28th May. The comedian will be coming to town and bringing special guests Rebekah Staton and Sharon Hogan with her to record a live podcast of The Guilty Feminist – a show which explores her goals as a feminist and the hypocrisies and insecurities that undermine them. Count. Us. In.

Brighton Fringe

Oh Brighton Fringe, we love you. A creatively diverse collection of events with quirky Brighton spirit. Just a few events we’ve already pencilled in include badass babe Luisa Omielan’s Politics for Bitches/ What Would Mary Magdalene Do?! running on various dates mid-May (and is just a fiver!) and The Fairytale Fair’s Fringe event. The fair will be held at Brighton Open Market on Saturday 20th May and will feature almost 50 independent creatives. The fair aims to showcase their talents and encourage visitors to support local makers and growing businesses – sounds right up our street!

Artists Open Houses

We can’t just write one paragraph on what we think could be our most favourite Brighton event ever, so brace yourself for a 2017 round-up (coming soon), but whatever you do; cancel ALL of your weekend plans for the next few weeks, grab yourself a brochure and dig out your comfiest shoes. We plan to spend May’s weekends ticking off as many trails as possible, nosying at artists cool houses and buying as much locally-made art as our bank balance allows us to. Are you joining us?
